Katanas on Athas
« on: November 09, 2010, 07:33:39 PM »
I'm seriously debating leaving katanas off of the new Athas Reborn.

Reasons:

1.) They aren't mentioned anywhere in any Dark Sun source books that I am aware of & aren't on the weapon lists.

2.) In PnP a katana is just a masterwork bastard sword.  No special weapon feats just for its use.

3.) They really don't fit the setting.  I don't even think they'd really fit in with the psuedo-asian cultures of Nibenay or Eldararch.

Please discuss.

I don't think I've ever heard of anyone making a toon that used one, all the magic ones are crap anyway.
Zing!

Well we've had a few added (up to +6 like the rest of the weapons) to the selection that drops in the 1.68 server, so don't base your opinion on that angle.

Well based on that I find I don't really have any feeling on the matter.
